Situation

Grayscale Investments is a premier alternative asset management firms with billions of capital deployed on behalf of retail and professional investors. Their product and technology team needed a consultant to manage approximately $150,000 in monthly resource value across design and development agencies, internal business (marketing, sales, research, finance, operations) and technical stakeholders, and support the go-to-market motions for ten new product launches to private and public markets worth billions in asset value. 

Action

The firm sought a single threaded owner to collaborate closely with marketing for content updates, feature enhancements, and other related changes to the customer facing experience. The primary focus was to get business, agency, and technical teams into a two week sprint planning cadence across design, development, content and tooling sprints. In addition to planned work, improving project briefing and intake with a strategic decision making framework, business analysis to inform issue ticketing, backlog creation, and prioritization, there were many frequent ad-hoc requests to  satisfy immediate compliance, regulatory, and legal requirements. 

Results

Shifted design agency project management and issue tracking from Google Documents to Jira, with an improved briefing process, and a predictable two week planning cadence. Improved capacity utilization for development agency, paid down technical debt, implemented automated regression testing for scripted deployment, and improved delivery velocity. Supported seven (7) private placements and (3) exchange traded product launches in under six months.
